The CMI Peru mission in South America has a long history. At the request of Monseñor Redento M. Gauci O. Carm. Bishop of Prefecture of Chuquibamba, Camana, Frs Mathew Alphonse Chakkamkunnel, Jose Mundakal and Joseph Malayampuram were sent to Peru on September 7, 1975. Though they were called back in 1987, St Joseph Province Kottayam restarted the mission and sent back Fr Mathew Alphonse Chakkamkunnel. On October 10, 2003, Fr Antony Kariyil, Prior General, through his letter PG 206/2003 assigned Peru to St Joseph Province Kottayam and Fr Joseph Vadakkan, Provincial, made Peru Mission a Sub-Region of the province on October 29, 2003. Currently, 14 of our fathers are involved in pastoral ministry in four dioceses of Peru. With unrelenting zeal our members are offering all kinds of pastoral services for the last four decades and now we are at a stage of retrospection of our hitherto mission strategy and of recommitment by establishing deep roots in this country of our spiritual adoption.

The Territorial Prelature of Chuquibamba is an ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Peru, based in the city of Camaná, and is part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Arequipa. We have two parishes in Prelature of Chuquibamba; namely St Ursula's Parish, Viraco and Parish of Our Lady of Assumption, Pampacolca. i) The parish in Viraco was started in the Spanish Colonial times around 1650 and canonically established in 1878 and in October 1992 it was entrusted to the care of CMIs. There are 23 Parish stations spread out in 4 districts. Many of the stations are visited by the priest only once a year. ii) Parish of Pampacolca, erected by the Spanish Missionaries and canonically established on 15th August 1572. The parish priest is in charge of 28 stations spread out in a wide region.

The Archdiocese of Arequipa is named after the second largest city in Peru and is 1050 km south of Lima, capital of Peru. In this diocese CMIs are in charge of two parishes and a Sanctuary in the name of Blessed Mary, Virgen de Chapi. Holy Trinity Church, Tingo, established in 1942 was entrusted to the CMIs in 1990, appointing Fr Mathew Alfonse Chakkamkunnel as its Pastor. On April 13, 2000 Fr Mathew was called to eternal rest and he was buried in Arequipa. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Chapi is the most renowned and most visited pilgrim centre in Peru. The veneration started around 1800 AD and now on Sundays around 2000 pilgrims visit the shrine. The Sanctuary is under the direct supervision of the Archdiocese of Arequipa. The archbishop of Arequipa entrusted our congregation a new Parish in the district of Majes, in the year 2023, where the congregation has a landed property of 10 hectares for its future projects, donated by Vasquez Diaz Family. In this Parish of Santa Maria de La Colinas two of our priests are working.

The Archdiocese of Lima was bifurcated to create the Diocese of Chosica in 1996 where CMIs are in charge of three parishes. i) St Benedict's Parish in Las Flores, started by the Order of St Benedict (OSB) in 1978 in the District of San Juan de Lurigancho, which is the most populous district in Peru with about 220,000 inhabitants, was entrusted to the CMIs in 1990. The Parish has 11 separate Christian Communities with regular Sunday Mass. A Community Polyclinic is run by the Parish where 80 health-personnel are rendering their service for more than 300 patients being treated in the clinic daily. San Benito is a very active Parish in Peru where four resident CMI Priests, many Catechists, Communion Ministers, Lay Church Leaders, Bible groups, catechetical and pastoral teams, movements and fraternities and various other church groups are in service. ii) St L M Montfort's Parish, Ñaña started in 1965 by Montfort Congregation, was entrusted to the CMIs in 1998. This Parish, situated at about 30 km east from the Centre of Lima in the Civil District of Chaclacayo, has a total population of 50,000 inhabitants, of which 75% are counted as Catholics. Ten religious priests of different Congregations are helping in the Parish. There are 11 stations and two convents of cloistered Nuns in the Parish. iii) St Nicolas of Tolentine's Parish, Chosica was created in June 1969 by the Order of St Augustine and was entrusted to the CMIs on April 1, 2008. There are 7 chapels and a population of around 40,000 of which the majority are Catholics. Different religious congregations are helping to meet the pastoral needs of the faithful.

Archdiocese of Piura and Tumbes, believed to be the first in religiosity and Christian experience in Peru and is 1100 km north of Lima, has two independent parishes run by the CMIs from 6 July 2011 onwards. i) The San Silvestre parish is approximately 30 km from the city of Piura and has a population of 50,000 and caters 25 chapels. ii) San Jacinto Parish has a population of 20,000, and caters 12 chapels. The people, mostly practicing Catholics, are very religious, welcoming, loving, understanding, helpful, and they have a lot of respect for priests.

The bishop of Prelature of Moyobamba entrusted our congregation a new Parish in the year 2022. Moyobamba situated around 1050 km from Capital City and it has a lot of mission stations. The Parish is named as Holy Family, Alto y Bajo Biavo.
