St Dominic's Carmel House is located six miles on the Kumily-Munnar Road. At the request of Bishop of Kanjirappally Mar Joseph Powathil the Province entrusted the task to Fr Ralph Karippassery for finding a suitable location for a CMI Institution in High Range area of Kanjirappally Diocese. He with the help of Fr Mathew Kuzhively, the Vicar of Anakara Forane Church selected Chakkupallam. The house was blessed on April 3, 1978 and the Chapel was blessed by Mar Joseph Powathil on June 25, 1978. Pope Paul VI Memorial Nursery school was started on August 15, 1978 attached to the Ashram. One year later, on May 26, 1979 St Dominic's LP School was started functioning. The school building, completed and blessed on October 7, 1984 and was renovated and rebuilt on July 16, 2020. In 1984, the pastoral care of the Catholics living around our house was entrusted to the CMIs and our Chapel was recognized as an "Ajapalanakendram", which was eventually declared as a parish by Bishop Mar Mathew Vattakkuzhy on March 25, 1998. The new church, named Carmalamatha Church was consecrated on November 14, 2006 by Mar Mathew Arackal. On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee, a parish hall, Parish Office and class rooms were constructed and was blessed by Mar Mathew Arackal, Bishop Emeritus of the Kanjirappally Diocese, on December 11, 2022.
